The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills to effectively respond to cardiac emergencies in both healthcare and community settings. This comprehensive course focuses on providing high-quality CPR, recognizing life-threatening emergencies, and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) appropriately.

Throughout the course, participants will learn and practice the latest guidelines and techniques endorsed by the American Heart Association. The curriculum covers the following key components:

  1. CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants: Participants will learn the fundamentals of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the proper compression-to-ventilation ratio for each age group.

  2. Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): Participants will be trained in the use of AEDs, including proper placement of electrodes, operating the device safely, and recognizing when to deliver a shock.

  3. Relief of Choking: The course includes instruction on recognizing and providing first aid for choking victims of all ages, emphasizing the importance of prompt action to clear the airway obstruction.
